To be sure you are getting Genuine Alaska Pollock®, with all of the quality, sustainability and traceability attributes that the fish is known for, you have to be a very smart buyer. In many markets around the world, “Alaska pollock” is a species name and does not denote point of origin. So, all seafood called “Alaska pollock” might not be from our sustainable fishery in Alaska and it might not be fully traceable.
To ensure you are getting genuine pollock from Alaska for your schools, specify once-frozen, U.S. harvested and processed Alaska pollock as the raw material in your seafood products, or use this suggested specification language. This will ensure you’re getting top quality products that comply with the Buy American provision of the National School Lunch Act. |
